    Matching Up

Arizona was ranked 7th in the Pac-10 by the media, just ridiculous. Especially when you look at where our individual players match up against others in the Pac-10. Ted Miller of ESPN.com has been compiling rankings of positional players in the conference and Arizona is up there in each category.

Quarterbacks - #2 Willie Tuitama (Though, Miller says if he leads Arizona to a bowl and puts up the numbers he is expected to, it would be hard to deny him the number one… plus Rudy Carpenter sucks)Backfields - #8 Nic Grigsby and Xavier Smith (Tough to be ranked high in a spread offense like Arizona’s, but if I were an opponent I would not want to give Grigsby any room)

Wide Receivers - #1 “Money” Mike Thomas (1st Team Pac-10 last year, 1st Team World this year, Partyawesome!)

#9 Terrell Turner (Good last year, will be better this year)

Wide Receiver Unit - #1 Arizona Wildcats (The same Air-Zona corps as last year)

Tight End - #1 Rob Gronkowski (Easy choice for a front runner 1st Team All-American/Heisman candidate)

Offensive Line - #6 Arizona Wildcats (Serious? Four returners, one being Britton, and #6? Miller refers to “shaky run blocking”… we will see what Miller thinks in December)

    Defensive Tackle/Defensive End - N/A (Yes, this is scary…)

Linebackers - #9 Ronnie Palmer (Three year starter, easy choice, but watch out for our other linebackers McCovy and Kelley because they are sweet!) …PS Cal has three LB’s in top 8, USC has 2, Good Lord!

Safeties - #7 Nate Ness (We call it now, you heard it here first, “Nasty” Nate will have 10 INT’s this year and 4 will be returned for TD’s…I dare you to doubt us)

Corners - N/A (We lost two Senior corners, what do you expect… but no worries here with Devin Ross, whom Stoops has predicted as First Team Pac-10, and Golden/Hundley)

Kicker - #3 Jason Bondzio (21-26, makes you not miss Folk too much)

Punter - #1 Keenyn Crier (83 yard punts stopping on the one yard line…)

So these are some of the names to watch this year, as you can see Arizona will rack up the 1st and 2nd team All Conference honors at the end of this year. Yet the media believes Arizona will finish 7th?!?! By media we do not mean Ted Miller though, he picked the ‘Cats to finish 5th, not as bad.
