The NBA and RauRaur return!

So what has happened in the past few weeks? Well Barack Obama was elected the second (see bottom) African-American president of the United States, the country is in a recession, Lute Olson retired, the entire 2009 recruiting class de-committed, Withey transferred, the NBA regular season has begun, Arizona football is one win from bowl elgibility, and RauRaur has been M.I.A./crying (In Lute We Trust, always). Well do not worry, we are back, and back to stay. And our first order of business is to catch you up on the ‘Cats in the NBA this year.
Last week, the NBA returned and so far, it has not been a great start for the NBA ‘Cats (I blame it on the Lute news), but there is still some positive points below…
Richard Jefferson seems to be having some struggles adapting to his new team in Milwaukee, only averaging 15.5 points, 6.5 boards, and 3.3 assists per game so far in this early season, which is definitely down from his previous years. But he still has led the Bucks to a decent 2-2 start, solid for a team that went 26-56 last year, and he will hit his groove soon.
In Philadelphia, Iggy seems to be struggling a little more with the transitioning than RJ, as the addition of Elton Brand has not been a help to his game. His stat line is at 12 points, 4.5 boards, and 5 assists per game, and he currently is looking like the 3rd scoring option on this 2-2 team.
Michael Bibby on the other hand is now fully settled with his new team and is being the leader they need him to be. He is averaging 15.5 points, 4 assists, and 2.5 steals a game, and is a major reason Joe Johnson is the NBA’s leading scorer and the Hawks are 2-0. Simon may have said Championship, but we all know who it was that got us there…. check the rafters of McKale for proof.
Jason Terry has always said he likes to come off the bench, but the Mavericks recently promoted Jason Terry to the starting shooting guard and he responded with 29 points on 62% shooting, as well as 6 assists, in a win over the Spurs last night. With numbers like this, the Mavericks are going to need JT on the court as much as possible, Rau Raur!
In Portland, Channing Frye is playing a solid reserve role, playing about 16 minutes a game. Jerryd Bayless on the other hand is currently stuck behind a few other guards and is getting minimal play time. If it is any consolation he has more NBA points (3) than #1 overall draft pick Greg Oden (0), how you like them apples!?!? It is only a matter of time before the JerryDominace begins.
Luke Walton is playing on the best team in the league, the Lakers, and unfortunately this means their is a lot of talent getting on the court before him. He is the odd man out for now, but we will see how this plays out over the future.
Hassan Adams has not made his re-debut into the NBA yet for the Raptors, but we will keep an eye out. Both Damon and Salim Stoudamire are currently free agents, after Salim got hurt in preseason camp, meaning never being able to show off his “from the Alltel sign” range to the Spurs. But worry not, we expect these guys back soon.
And last, but certainly, not even close to the least, the real first African-American president, Gilbert Arenas! Gil is still rehabbing and reports were showing his comeback to be in December or January, but Agent Zero recently said he could be looking at a possible return at the end of this month!
Well there is a quick recap for your NBA ‘Cats, so if you see a Celtics vs. Cavaliers game on, screw that!, the Bucks could be playing the Trailblazers on another channel! RJ vs Frye/Jerry D on TNT!!
